Since some sewage samples collected in Tsz Ching Estate, Tsz Wan Shan in Wong Tai Sin were tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, and multiple COVID-19 confirmed cases were detected at Cheung Bor House, Choi Wan (I) Estate in Ngau Chi Wan recently, the Home Affairs Department and the Wong Tai Sin District Office (WTSDO) today (January 27) distributed 70 000 COVID-19 rapid test kits to residents in the Wong Tai Sin District.
WTSDO together with local organisations distributed about 5 000 rapid test kits to the elderly in elderly centres and residents in Tsz Wan Shan, and distributed a total of about 65 000 rapid test kits to the households of Cheung Bor House, Choi Wan (I) Estate, Ngau Chi Wan; Tsz Ching Estate and its three neighbouring estates in Tsz Wan Shan (i.e. Tsz Lok Estate, Tsz Man Estate and Tsz Hong Estate) through the estate offices of the Housing Department, in the hope of identifying infected persons early, so as to better protect infected persons and their families. However, the Government stressed that rapid test kit testing is not a substitute for the Government's compulsory testing requirement.
The Government appeals for the co-operation of members of the public to safeguard the health of themselves and their families by undergoing testing on a voluntary basis and fight the virus together. The Government urges all individuals who are in doubt about their own health condition, or individuals with infection risks (such as individuals who visited places with epidemic outbreaks or had contact with cases that tested positive), to undergo testing promptly for early identification of infected persons to reduce the transmission risks of COVID-19.
