In the light of the positive test results for the COVID-19 virus from some sewage samples collected in Wong Tai Sin, Sham Shui Po, Sai Kung and Kwun Tong Districts, the Home Affairs Department (including the Wong Tai Sin District Office (WTSDO), the Sham Shui Po District Office (SSPDO), the Sai Kung District Office (SKDO) and the Kwun Tong District Office (KTDO)) today (February 8) distributed a total of about 39 000 COVID-19 rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in the Districts.

The WTSDO, together with district bodies, today distributed rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in the area around Po Kong Village Road, Yuk Wah Crescent and Yuk Wah Street in Wong Tai Sin for voluntary testing through property management companies, and distributed rapid test kits to all households living in "three-nil" buildings in the above-mentioned area through their letter boxes for them to take the test themselves.

The SSPDO, together with the Housing Department, also distributed rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in Fu Sing House, Fu Leung House, Fu Loy House, Fu Hoi House and Fu Yee House for voluntary testing through the property management company of Fu Cheong Estate.

The SKDO distributed rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in the area around Sai Kung Town Centre and Tui Min Hoi through property management companies, district bodies and voluntary organisations.

â€‹The KTDO also distributed rapid test kits to cleansing workers and property management staff working in the affected buildings of Yau Lai Estate for voluntary testing through the property management company of the Estate, in the hope of identifying infected persons early, so as to better protect the infected persons and their families. However, the Government stresses that rapid test kit testing is not a substitute for the Government's compulsory testing requirement.

The Government appeals for the co-operation of members of the public to safeguard the health of themselves and their families by undergoing testing on a voluntary basis and fighting the virus together. The Government urges all individuals who are in doubt about their own health condition, or individuals with infection risks (such as individuals who visited places with epidemic outbreaks or had contact with cases that tested positive), to undergo testing promptly for early identification of infected persons to reduce the transmission risks of COVID-19.
