The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority spokesperson today (December 18) announced the passing away of two patients confirmed with COVID-19.
An 84-year-old male patient (case number: 7816) with chronic illness was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on December 15 due to cough and pneumonia symptoms. He was subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 9.34pm yesterday.
An 85-year-old male patient (case number: 6299) was admitted to the isolation ward of Caritas Medical Centre on December 4 due to COVID-19. His condition continued to deteriorate and was transferred to the Adult Intensive Care Unit on December 7. The patient eventually succumbed at 10.27am this morning.
The hospitals were saddened about the passing away of the patients and would offer necessary assistance to the families.
Including the above patients, 124 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
