HA announces passing away of two COVID-19 patients at public hospitals
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority spokesperson today (December 24) announced the passing away of two patients confirmed with COVID-19 infection.
A 92-year-old male patient (case number: 6849) with chronic disease was admitted to an isolation ward of Princess Margaret Hospital from a quarantine centre on December 4 due to fever with cough. The patient later tested positive for COVID-19. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 9.23pm last night (December 23).
In addition, an 86-year-old female patient (case number: 6533) with chronic illness was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on December 2 upon confirmation of COVID-19 infection. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she eventually succumbed at 2.59am this morning.
The hospitals are saddened by the passing away of the patients and will offer the necessary assistance to their families.
Including the above two patients, 131 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
