The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (March 17) announced that the Government would provide 1.5 million sets of rapid antigen test (RAT) kit and 1.5 million KN95 masks to frontline cleaning workers and property management staff working in residential buildings in support and recognition of their anti-epidemic work.
The EPD expressed gratitude to the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies and the Hong Kong Association of Property Services Agents for their support to persons undergoing home quarantine under the "StayHomeSafe" Scheme and those pending admission to hospitals or isolation facilities. They also helped promote the proper and safe handling of waste generated by the persons concerned according to the Centre for Health Protection's guideline to safeguard public health and safety.
The two professional bodies represent a membership of 350 property management companies, serving 15 000 private residential premises (with 1 750 000 private residential units) and managing over 450 000 public rental housing units. Through their members, the two professional bodies also helped educate the residents on the proper way to dispose of waste generated by the persons concerned.
To support the work of the two professional bodies and to protect the frontline cleaning workers and property management staff working in residential buildings, the Government will distribute to them 1.5 million sets of RAT kit and 1.5 million KN95 masks through the property management companies.
