Some protesters took part in unauthorised assemblies in Mong Kok and Lan Kwai Fong area in Central this (October 31) evening, where rioters once again took the opportunity to block roads, seriously disrupting traffic. Some people hurled petrol bombs with no regard to the safety of others. A Government spokesman strongly condemns these acts.
The spokesman expresses deep regret that despite repeated clarifications by the Government that there were no cases involving death in Prince Edward MTR station on August 31, some people still deliberately chose to be misled by online rumours and responded to calls for unauthorised assemblies.
These illegal acts that have disrupted social order and jeopardised people's safety are completely unacceptable. The Police will strictly enforce the law and will not condone illegal acts.
In addition, the spokesman once again appeals to members of the public not to participate in unauthorised assemblies and processions and stay away from violence.
