Government posts notices of land resumption and acquisition for Tung Chung New Town Extension development
The Lands Department (LandsD) today (June 24) posted notices in accordance with section 4 of the Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), section 4 of the Land Acquisition (Possessory Title) Ordinance (Chapter 130), section 14 of the Roads (Works, Use and Compensation) Ordinance (Chapter 370), and section 14 of Water Pollution Control (Sewerage) Regulation (Chapter 358, Subsidiary Legislation AL) for the resumption and acquisition of land for implementation of public housing development in Area 46, and other facilities and infrastructure works for the Tung Chung New Town Extension development.
A total of 294 private lots with an area of about 4.94 hectares will be resumed and the land which is occupied by a grave with an area of about 22.6 square meters will be acquired. The said land will revert to or vest in the Government upon the expiry of a period of three months from the date of affixing the notices (i.e. September 25, 2021).
The Government will maintain close liaison with the relevant land owners and affected households and business undertakings, and properly handle their compensation and rehousing matters.
The public housing development in Area 46, Tung Chung, will provide a total of about 1 550 flats upon full completion. The first batch of population intake is expected in 2028.
