FSTB staff member tests preliminarily positive for COVID-19 after rapid test

A spokesman for the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) today (February 18) said that an Information Officer has tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 after a rapid test.

The staff member last performed duties on February 15, and took part in a press conference held at the Auditorium, Ground Floor, Central Government Offices (CGO), in the afternoon on that day. He works on the 24/F of the CGO East Wing. He has been wearing face masks and following infection control measures at work while performing duties. He did not show any symptoms and his body temperature was normal during temperature screening when he last performed work. He has no recent travel history.

To be safe, government officials who attended the press conference that day have undergone COVID-19 rapid tests and all results are negative.

The FSTB is arranging thorough cleaning and disinfection work at relevant work places. A similar arrangement at the Auditorium on the ground floor has been completed. The FSTB will also require the staff concerned working at the same office to undergo COVID-19 testing. The FSTB will maintain close liaison with the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health in taking appropriate follow-up actions.

During the pandemic, the FSTB has been strictly implementing various infection control measures. Staff members have been reminded to pay attention to their personal hygiene and stay vigilant at all times. They are advised to seek medical advice immediately if they develop symptoms of COVID-19.
