Final call for “Timeless Diva: Anita Mui” exhibition at Hong Kong Heritage Museum (with photos)

The "Timeless Diva: Anita Mui" exhibition being held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (HKHM) will end on September 2 (Monday). Members of the public are urged to grasp the opportunity to visit this not-to-be-missed exhibition at the HKHM. The exhibition is much loved by the local public and tourists since its opening on December 24 last year, and has received over 360 000 visitors.

This exhibition is organised to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the passing of superstar Anita Mui. Exhibits include eight eye-catching stage costumes, such as the feathered samba costume worn at "Anita Mui in Concert" that lit up the opening section of the concert; and the stage costume worn by Mui when she received the Golden Needle Award at Radio Television Hong Kong's "The 21st Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award Concert" at the peak of her musical career.

Other highlight exhibits include the Japanese vinyl record of "Fantasy of Love/Debt of Love", featuring the Japanese version of "Fantasy of Love" that won Mui the TBS Award and the Asian Special Award at the 12th Tokyo Music Festival. The trophy for the TBS Award is on display for the first time, showing the diva's breakthrough in the Asian music industry. Besides those exhibits, visitors can also scan the QR codes in the gallery to listen to Mui's radio interviews in the 1980s and 1990s to understand her thoughts and stories since her debut as a singer; and the sound clips of Mr Eddie Lau, a close friend of Mui and a prominent fashion and image designer, to revisit the stories of how they collaborated and ignited sparks. The exhibition concludes with selected videos showcasing Mui's ever-changing image in music and movies, as well as her captivating acting skills. Through 70 exhibits, visitors can review her extraordinary artistic achievements in the music and film industry, and brilliant contributions to Hong Kong's pop culture.

The exhibition is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the HKHM. It is held at the HKHM, 1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin, with free admission. Free exhibition postcards are available at the gallery entrance. Each person is entitled to one postcard. A limited number of postcards will be available each day, while stocks last. For details of the exhibition, please visit

The HKHM has organised various exhibitions relating to Hong Kong popular culture in recent years. Apart from the exhibition "Timeless Diva: Anita Mui", the museum launched recently the exhibition "A Laugh at the World: James Wong" to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the passing of renowned cultural figure James Wong. Members of the public are also welcome to visit the permanent exhibition "Hong Kong Pop 60+" which displays precious exhibits of Hong Kong pop culture icons, such as the white wedding gown worn by Mui at her last concert in 2003.
