The Film Censorship (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 and the updated Film Censorship Guidelines for Censors came into effect upon gazettal today (November 5).
On October 27, the Legislative Council passed the Ordinance which aims to ensure more effective fulfilment of the duty to safeguard national security as required by the Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to prevent and suppress acts or activities that may endanger national security. With the Ordinance coming into effect, the existing guidelines have been updated correspondingly.
