The Food and Health Bureau (FHB) today (October 22) reminded persons who had been present on the cruise ship Spectrum of the Seas during the period from September 30 to October 21 for more than two hours to undergo compulsory testing in relation to a suspected re-positive case involving a cruise ship crew member.
The cruise ship has been covered under a compulsory testing notice. For prudence's sake, all persons who had been present on the cruise ship (including but not limited to full-time, part-time and relief staff and passengers, and including those who have completed a COVID-19 vaccination course) for more than two hours at any time during the period from September 30 to October 21 are required to undergo testing by tomorrow. It is noted that, apart from the sailing which was cancelled yesterday in accordance with the relevant health protocols, the cruise ship had also carried passengers on October 14 and October 17. The Government has requested the cruise company to help inform passengers concerned to undergo compulsory testing.
A spokesman for the FHB reiterated that amid the severe pandemic situation across the world, the Government strives to protect public health and at the same time foster favourable conditions for resuming cross-boundary travel with the Mainland and cross-border travel in future. To this end, the various anti-epidemic measures to prevent the importation of cases and the spreading of the virus in the community should be kept up.
