A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (March 1) said that two workmen of the FEHD tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 by undergoing a rapid antigen test and a combined nasal and throat swabs test respectively.

The two staff members work in the FEHD's Airport Food Inspection Office (AFIO) at South Office Block, Super Terminal 1, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (HACTL), Terminal 2, Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), and Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal (CPCT), 3 Chun Wan Road, at Hong Kong International Airport respectively. They last performed duties on February 28, and have been wearing masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work.

The FEHD will conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection work at relevant places in accordance with the Centre for Health Protection's advice, and will arrange for staff concerned to undergo COVID-19 testing. The FEHD's AFIO at AAT and HACTL will be temporarily closed at 2.30pm and 3pm today respectively. Services are expected to gradually resume later in the afternoon after the completion of cleaning and disinfection work. The cleaning and disinfection work at AFIO at CPCT has been completed earlier today and service has been resumed.

The FEHD has been strictly implementing disease prevention measures during the epidemic. Staff members are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if they develop symptoms of COVID-19.
