FEHD staff member tests preliminarily positive for COVID-19

     A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (February 16) said that a foreman of the FEHD has tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

     The staff member works in the office on Upper Ground Floor, 6 Cheong Hang Road, Hung Hom, Kowloon, and last performed duties on February 12. The staff has been wearing masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work.

     The FEHD will conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection work at relevant places in accordance with the Centre for Health Protection's advice, and will arrange for the staff concerned to undergo COVID-19 testing.The FEHD's Cemeteries and Crematoria Office (Kowloon) (mainly ashes collection and permit application) at the above location is closed this afternoon and is expected to resume service on February 18. Meanwhile, the public can visit the Cemeteries and Crematoria Office (Hong Kong) at 1J Wong Nai Chung Road, Happy Valley, Hong Kong for permit application of relevant services. The cremation and burial services provided by FEHD will not be affected.

     The FEHD has been strictly implementing disease prevention measures during the epidemic. Staff members are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if they develop symptoms of COVID-19.
