Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei today (July 15) in which an 88-year-old man died.
At 8.47am, a heavy goods vehicle driven by a 45-year-old man was travelling along Dundas Street towards Sai Yeung Choi Street South, it reportedly knocked down the 88-year-old man who was crossing the road.
Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 10.13am.
The heavy goods vehicle driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident. He is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
