Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei today (June 14) in which a 31-year-old private car male passenger died.

     At about 4.07am, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 63-year-old man and a private car driven by a 31-year-old man were travelling along Nathan Road southbound in sequence. When approaching outside 380 Nathan Road, the private car reportedly cut the lane from behind and collided with the MGV which was also cutting the lane.

     The 31-year-old private car driver sustained head injury, while the 31-year-old private car passenger sustained no superficial injury. They were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment in conscious and unconscious state respectively. The private car passenger was certified dead at 7.13am.

     The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
