Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan this morning (August 21) in which a 53-year-old man died.

     At around 6.30am, a private car driven by the 53-year-old man was travelling along Tai Lam Tunnel towards Kowloon. After passing the tollbooth, the private car suspectedly failed to brake in time and rammed into another private car driven by a 36-year-old man. When the 53-year-old private car driver alighted from the car for checking, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) suspectedly failed to stop in time which knocked down the 53-year-old man from behind.
 
     Sustaining serious bodily injuries, the 53-year-old man was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 7.31am.

     The 32-year-old male HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
