Fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui today (October 3) in which a 56-year-old woman died.

     At about 4.15am, a public light bus (PLB) driven by the 56-year-old woman was travelling westbound along Castle Peak Road – Kwu Tung towards Yuen Long, and a bus driven by a 53-year-old man was travelling eastbound along Castle Peak Road – Kwu Tung towards Sheung Shui. When approaching Tin Kwong Po, the two vehicles reportedly collided. The bus then collided with a taxi parked on the roadside.

     The PLB driver was trapped inside the compartment and was rescued by firemen. She was certified dead at scene. The bus driver, two male bus passengers aged 46 and 59, and 11 male PLB passengers aged between 20 and 63 were injured. They were sent to North District Hospital and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for medical treatment in conscious state.

     Investigation will be conducted by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North.
