Fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po
Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po last night (February 18) in which a 45-year-old man died.
About 7.45pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 38-year-old man was travelling southbound along Pei Ho Street. When turning right to Hai Tan Street, it reportedly knocked down the 45-year-old man who accidentally fell onto the ground. After the impact, the HGV left the scene.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the 45-year-old man was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre in unconscious state and was certified dead at 8.30pm.
The HGV was located at the junction of Sung Wong Toi Road and Pak Tai Street, and the 38-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
