Fatal traffic accident in Sai Kung

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sai Kung today (December 6) in which a 60-year-old expatriate man died.

     At about 1.45pm, a government vehicle driven by a 54-year-old public officer and a bicycle ridden by the 60-year-old man were travelling along Hiram’s Highway towards Kowloon. Upon reaching Pak Sha Wan, the two vehicles reportedly collided, and collided with a private car which parked at roadside.

     The cyclist was trapped under the government vehicle and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries, he was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 3.21pm. The 64-year-old male driver of the private car felt unwell and was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for medical treatment in conscious state.

     The public officer was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
