Fatal traffic accident in Ngau Tau Kok

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Ngau Tau Kok this morning (September 7) in which a 49-year-old man died.     
          
     At 4.48am, a public bus driven by a 45-year-old man reportedly knocked down the 49-year-old man when reversing on the rooftop of a bus depot on Lam Wah Street. After the impact, the public bus left the scene.

     At 7.23am, Police received a report from a staff member of a bus company that the man was lying at the rooftop of the bus depot. He was suspected to have been knocked down by a vehicle.
               
     Police officers sped to the scene. Sustaining serious head and legs injuries, the man was rushed to United Christian Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 7.49am.     

     The public bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death,failing to stop after an accident and failing to report after an accident. He is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
