Fatal traffic accident in Lantau North

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Lantau North today (January 23) in which a man died.

     At about 8.45am, a motorcycle driven by a 49-year-old non-ethnic Chinese man was travelling along Tung Chung Road towards Tung Chung, while a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 47-year-old man was travelling along Tung Chung Road towards Cheung Sha. When approaching Lung Tseng Tau, the motorcycle reportedly went out of control, dashed to the opposite traffic lane and rammed into the LGV.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the motorcyclist was rushed to North Lantau Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 10.08am

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is under way.
