Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Hung Hom yesterday afternoon (May 2) in which an 83-year-old man died.
At 12.16pm yesterday, Police received a report that a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 52-year-old man was travelling along Pau Chung Street. When approaching Sheung Heung Road, it reportedly knocked down the 83-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman who were crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the 83-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 5am today (May 3). The 85-year-old woman was also injured. She was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in conscious state.
The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm after the accident. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in late May.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
