Fatal traffic accident in Central
Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Central today (July 20) in which an 84-year-old man died.
At 10.37am, a taxi driven by a 64-year-old man was travelling along Robinson Road westbound. When approaching 97 Robinson Road, it reportedly knocked down the 84-year-old man who was crossing the road and dragged him for some distance afterwards.
Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.40am.
The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.
