Fatal traffic accident in Central
Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Central last night (November 19) in which a 76-year-old woman died.
At 8.29pm, a taxi driven by a 67-year-old man was travelling along Queensway eastbound. When approaching near Tamar Street, it reportedly knocked down the 76-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the woman was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 8.52pm.
The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.
