Fifty-six convictions were recorded in February 2019 for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD).
Six of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, three were under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance, 15 were under the Noise Control Ordinance, one was under the Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance, one was under the Public Cleansing and Prevention of Nuisances Regulation, one was under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance, 26 were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, and three were under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in February was $50,000, assessed against a company which imported controlled waste without a permit.
