The common and distinct challenges facing rural areas in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland were discussed at the House of Lords during an event co-organised by SRUC’s Rural Policy Centre.

A new research project involving SRUC aims to improve UK production efficiency by enabling farmers to determine the optimum mature size for beef cattle and sheep.

The first borehole is being drilled at the UK Geoenergy Observatory for Glasgow, allowing scientists to ‘see’ underground at the world-class geothermal energy research site in the east end of the city.
