Official Statistics: Energy Performance of Buildings Certificates in England and Wales: 2008 to March 2017

Information about certificates on the energy efficiency of domestic and non-domestic buildings in England and Wales that have been constructed, sold, or let since 2008, and of larger public authority buildings since 2008. These statistics do not cover the entire building stock across England and Wales.

Figures are drawn from 2 datasets on the Energy Performance of Buildings Registers:

  • Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for domestic and non-domestic properties covering England and Wales
  • Display Energy Certificates (DECs) for larger buildings occupied by public authorities in England and Wales.

National Statistics: Northern Ireland local authority collected municipal waste management statistics report: October to December 2016

This report presents provisional information on the quantities of local authority collected municipal waste managed in Northern Ireland. It provides information on the quantities and rates of local authority collected waste arisings, sent for preparing for reuse, for dry recycling, composting, energy recovery and sent to landfill. Some of these measurements are key performance indicators. These are used to assess progress towards achieving waste strategy targets and where appropriate this is highlighted in the tables and charts.




Statutory guidance: Local Authority Pollution Control: general guidance manual

Local authorities who regulate businesses are usually district or borough councils. If an area has only one council (a unitary council) then that’s the regulator. The Port Health Authority
may be the regulator in port areas.

This guidance helps local authorities:

  • follow statutory guidance under regulation 64 of the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR)
  • understand the EPR’s main functions, procedures and terminology

Any businesses whose premises produce pollution are known as “installations”. These installations are one of the following:

  • part A2, sectors regulated under integrated pollution prevention and control, known as Local Authority Industrial Pollution Prevention and Control (LA-IPPC)
  • part B, known as Local Air Pollution Prevention and Control (LAPPC)
