This publication explains the government’s approach to understanding the extent of litter and littering in England. The figures in this publication are based on data from 2016 to 2017.




Research and analysis: Water situation: national monthly reports for England 2018

Updated: New report published: water situation September 2018.

These reports collect information from the Environment Agency, the Met Office and water companies that measure and monitor:

  • the amount of rain that falls
  • how dry the soils are and how much rain they can soak up
  • the amount of water flowing in rivers
  • the amount of water stored below ground in aquifers and above ground in reservoirs

They also present the outlook for river flow and groundwater.




Guidance: Waste carrier, broker and dealer registration renewals due after 25 March 2018: RPS 208

Updated: The Environment Agency has extended regulatory position statement 208 so that people with renewal dates in 2019 have valid registrations until their new expiry date is reached.

This regulatory position statement (RPS) will be withdrawn when the upgraded online registration system is live and customers affected can renew online.
