In response to media enquiries about the follow-up on the case of a driver of the Environment Bureau (ENB) testing preliminarily positive for COVID-19 through a rapid test, a spokesman for the ENB today (February 22) said that the deep throat saliva specimens submitted by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, for tests showed negative results.
The driver submitted a deep throat saliva specimen for testing and the result was positive. He is now in home isolation pending transfer for treatment in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Health (DH). The Centre for Health Protection of the DH is following up on the case.
In view of the negative test result, Mr Wong is returning to the office today.
The ENB will continue to strictly implement various disease prevention measures. Staff members are also reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant at all times. They should seek medical advice immediately if they feel unwell.
