Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited was fined $70,000 at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (November 22) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on March 7 in a warehouse at Hong Kong International Airport. A worker carrying out cargo handling work in the warehouse was trapped between cargo being conveyed by a powered conveying system and a closed metal sliding door. He sustained serious bodily injury and passed away on the same day.
