DSD to hold open days at Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works

     â€‹The Drainage Services Department (DSD) will hold open days at Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works on November 16 and 17 (Saturday and Sunday), from 9.30am to 5pm.
      
     The two-day event marks the finale of the department's 30th anniversary celebration, with the theme "30 Years of Groundwork, Embracing a New Age" and featuring the "4Rs": review of the DSD's 30 years, revitalisation of rivers and nullahs, rehabilitation of ageing drains and sewers, and relocation of the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to caverns.
      
     It will be the first open days held at Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works since 2009. Through guided tours, exhibition panels and a model display, visitors can have a better understanding of the department's development and effort over the years, as well as the work done on flood prevention, sewage treatment, and combating and mitigating climate change. The open days will also include other entertaining and educational programmes, such as stage performances, game booths, science talks, a photo-taking corner and food trucks.
      
     A presentation ceremony will be held on the first day of the event for the sewage tunnel of the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme, which is being recognised by Guinness World Records as the deepest urban sewage system installed tunnel.
      
     Admission to the event is free of charge. Free shuttle bus services will be provided at the following locations on both days from 9.15am to 4pm at intervals of 10 to 15 minutes. Return trips from the Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works will also be available:
 
*   Pick-up/drop-off area at Cheung Yee Street near MTR Lai Chi Kok Station Exit D2; and
*   Pick-up/drop-off area at Mei Lai Road near MTR Mei Foo Station Exit C1.
