The Department of Health (DH) today (December 7) said that an outsourced cleaning staff member of its Dental Service Administration Office had preliminarily tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The staff member works in the Dental Service Administration Office at 7/F, MacLehose Dental Centre in Wan Chai, and is responsible for back office cleaning services. She does not have contact with members of the public during her daily work. The staff member is the close contact of a confirmed case, and last performed her duties on December 4. She wore surgical masks while performing duties and properly maintained social distancing with people with whom she had contact. Her body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.
The Centre for Health Protection has initiated an epidemiological investigation on this preliminary positive case. Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations will be conducted at the concerned workplace. In view of the current epidemic situation, all dental services' staff members are wearing masks at work and practising hand hygiene at all times. The DH is highly concerned about the COVID-19 situation and has reminded all staff again to maintain personal hygiene and be vigilant at all times.
