CSSA caseload for July 2021
The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a drop of 546 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared with that of June, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 18).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 220 935 (see attached table), with a total of 316 598 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.0 per cent to 2 313 cases. Old age cases were down by 0.4 per cent to 126 298 cases. Single parent cases decreased by 0.1 per cent to 24 821 cases.
Unemployment cases decreased by 0.5 per cent to 19 356 cases. The figure represented an increase of about 53.8 per cent in comparison with that of January 2020 when Hong Kong just started to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The average number of applications for unemployment cases in May to July 2021 was 585 per month, representing a reduction of 10.1 per cent from that in April to June.
Both ill-health cases and permanent disability cases increased by 0.1 per cent to 26 615 cases and 17 499 cases respectively.
