CSSA caseload for August 2019
The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in August showed a drop of 245 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent compared with that of July, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (September 18).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of August stood at 222 086 (see attached table), with a total of 316 204 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.8 per cent to 3 216 cases. Single parent cases dropped by 0.4 per cent to 24 159 cases while old age cases slipped by 0.3 per cent to 138 501 cases.
Unemployment cases edged up by 1.6 per cent to 11 919 cases. Ill-health cases rose by 0.5 per cent to 23 442 cases while permanent disability cases increased by 0.2 per cent to 16 733 cases.
