The first Greater Bay Area Correctional Services Tactical Skills Competition organised by the Correctional Services Department (CSD) kicked off today (January 13), with the participation of over 100 correctional officers from the Mainland, Macao and Hong Kong. Through this event, the CSD aims to foster professional exchanges among correctional institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and enhance response capabilities and professionalism of correctional personnel in handling emergencies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, said that the Competition held by the CSD is of great significance as it provides a platform for exchanges among correctional institutions in the GBA, allowing them to learn from each other and enhance their tactical skills and emergency response capabilities. It will also enhance exchanges and co-operation in correctional services in the GBA, jointly promoting the professional development of correctional services in the area.
Mr Tang also commended the CSD's efforts in organising the Competition. In addition to competitions, the CSD will also arrange for representatives from various regions to visit correctional institutions in Hong Kong and engage in correctional experiences, tactical and equipment as well as cultural exchanges, laying a solid foundation for strengthening co-operation in the GBA in the future.
The first Greater Bay Area Correctional Services Tactical Skills Competition is being held for five consecutive days starting today, with a total of seven participating teams from the Guangdong Prison Administrative Bureau, the Justice Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality, the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the Macao Correctional Services Bureau and the Hong Kong CSD. The Competition comprises four events, namely Sharpshooters, Team Obstacles, Mayhem in the Yard, and Search and Rescue, which test participants' physical endurance, tactical skills, teamwork, command and emergency response capabilities.
