Correctional officers stopped fighting among remand persons in custody
Correctional officers at Pik Uk Correctional Institution stopped a fight among remand persons in custody today (March 10).
At 9.39am, eight male remand persons in custody, aged between 17 and 20, engaged in a fight inside the dining hall. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.
During the incident, two correctional officers sustained injuries on face and arm respectively while trying to stop the fight. Four remand persons in custody sustained injuries on head, face, hand and back respectively whilst the other four did not sustain injury. After examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer, all the officers and persons in custody concerned did not need to be sent to public hospital.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The eight remand persons in custody were remanded for the offences of manufacturing of dangerous drug and trafficking in dangerous drug respectively.
