Correctional officers stop person in custody attacking staff
Correctional officers at Tai Lam Centre for Women stopped a female remand person in custody attacking staff today (September 19).
At 7.36am today, a 58-year-old female remand person in custody suddenly became emotional and attacked a correctional officer inside a dormitory. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailant and called for reinforcement.
During the incident, the officer sustained injuries to her arms. After examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer, she did not need to be sent to a public hospital. The assailant did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailant was remanded for the offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
