Correctional officer stops fighting among persons in custody

     A correctional officer at Stanley Prison stopped a fight between two persons in custody today (June 18).

     At 3.02 pm today, two male persons in custody aged 27 and 53 respectively engaged in a fight inside shower room. An officer at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.

     One of the persons in custody sustained injuries to his head, chest, etc., and was referred to a public hospital for further treatment after examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer. Another person in custody sustained injury to his eye and he did not need to be sent out after receiving medical treatment.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two persons in custody were sentenced to imprisonment for the offences of rape and robbery respectively.
