Correctional officer stops fight among persons in custody
Correctional officer at Stanley Prison stopped a fight among persons in custody today (January 9).
At 7.47am today, two male persons in custody, aged 36 and 28, were found fighting inside the toilet of Dining Hall. Officer at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.
During the incident, one person in custody sustained injury to his nose and he was required to be referred to a public hospital after receiving treatment by institution Medical Officer. Another person in custody sustained injury to his neck and he did not need to be sent out after receiving medical treatment.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The two persons in custody were sentenced to imprisonment for the offences of conspiracy to defraud and trafficking in a dangerous drug respectively.
