Correctional officer stops assault on remand person in custody

     â€‹A correctional officer stopped a remand person in custody from assaulting another remand person in custody at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (September 21).

     At 2.12pm today, a 29-year-old male remand person in custody attacked a 35-year-old male remand person in custody inside a shower room. An officer at the scene immediately stopped the assailant and called for reinforcement.

     During the incident, the victim sustained injuries to his face, arm and back. After examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer, he was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailant sustained an injury to his hand. After treatment provided by the institution Medical Officer, he did not need to be sent to a public hospital.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two persons in custody were remanded for the offences of handling stolen goods and obtaining property by deception respectively.
