Bouygues Travaux Publics was fined $180,000 at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (January 6) for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 16, 2023, at a tunnel construction site in Ho Man Tin. While a worker was carrying out preparation work for towing an elevating work platform (EWP) with the help of a forklift truck, the forklift truck suddenly moved and trapped the worker between the forklift truck and the EWP. The worker sustained serious injuries and passed away on the same day.
