iCare You All Design Project and Contracting Company Limited was fined $25,000 at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (October 31) for violations of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on November 21, 2023, at a shopping mall unit under renovation in Tsim Sha Tsui. A worker tripped over some loose cables on the floor while pulling a trolley. The worker's head slammed into a wall, resulting in a head injury. The worker passed away two days later.
The Labour Department is examining the sentences and considering further actions.
