This press release summarises the decisions of the Communications Authority (CA) following its 102nd meeting held in December 2020:
CA approves termination of non-domestic television programme service licence of China Satellite TV Group Company Limited (CHTV)
———————————————————————————————
The CA approved the application by CHTV for termination of its non-domestic television programme service licence with retrospective effect from October 28, 2020. The termination of the licence was a commercial decision of the licensee.
Following the termination of CHTV's licence, there are 10 non-domestic television programme service licensees in Hong Kong providing over 190 satellite television channels, targeting viewers mainly in the Asia-Pacific region.
Broadcast complaint
———————–
The CA considered a complaint case concerning two editions of the radio programme "Weekend Lucky Star" broadcast from 10am to 11am on August 22 and 29, 2020, on the CR1 Channel of Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company Limited (CRHK). The CA decided that CRHK should be strongly advised to observe more closely the relevant provisions of the Radio Code of Practice on Programme Standards and the Radio Code of Practice on Advertising Standards.
