Commissioner of Police conveys condolences to family members of late Senior Inspector
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Siu Chak-yee, today (September 29) extended again sympathies to the family members of Senior Inspector Lam Yuen-yee who died while performing duty at the waters near Sha Chau days ago and conveyed to them the deepest condolences from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council (HKMAO) and various sectors in the community.
Mr Siu conveyed to Lam’s family the sincere condolences and deepest grief by the Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the HKMAO, Mr Xia Baolong. The HKMAO praised Lam for her dedicated service to the Police Force for more than a decade, and lauded her professionalism as putting the spirit of safeguarding national and Hong Kong security into practical action.
While expressing sorrow over the passing of Lam Yuen-yee, different sectors of the community highly commended her for the determination and courage displayed, and considered her passing as a great loss for the Police Force. Mr Siu today conveyed these messages to Lam’s family and reassured them that it was Lam’s colleagues’ pride to work with such an outstanding officer. The Police Force pledges to render all necessary assistance to Lam’s family.
Police are making an all-out effort to investigate the case and will continue to fight against smuggling activities without fear in a bid to bring criminals to justice, Mr Siu told Lam’s family, adding that Police once again severely condemn the criminals for breaching law and order and risking people’s lives.
