Cleaning workers of GPA subcontractor test positive for COVID-19

The Government Property Agency (GPA) said today (December 14) that four cleaning workers employed by a subcontractor for cleaning services at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Port (HKP) have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to the information from the HZMB HKP management contractor, all four cleaning workers affected were from the night shift and are responsible for general cleaning and disinfection services at the Passenger Clearance Building of the HZMB HKP. After a cleaning worker first tested positive for COVID-19 on December 10, thorough cleaning and sterilisation of the affected work and activity areas was conducted.

The GPA will continue to closely monitor the developments. It will maintain close liaison with the Department of Health's Centre for Health Protection and follow its quarantine measures.

All staff working at the HZMB HKP, including contractor staff, are required to check their body temperature before work and wear masks during work. Staff have been reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
