The Government today (October 8) announced that Mr Rex Auyeung has departed early from the chairmanship of the Council of Lingnan University (LU) with immediate effect to focus more on his other public service.
The Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, expressed regret over Mr Auyeung's early departure but respected the decision. "Mr Auyeung was appointed as Chairman of the LU Council in 2014. Under his excellent leadership, LU has maintained its fine liberal arts tradition in providing quality whole-person education and has made every effort to nurture talents with both strong capabilities and humanistic values. I am grateful to him for his contribution to LU," Mr Yeung said.
The Government will initiate its process to identify and appoint a successor as the next Chairman of the LU Council as soon as practicable. In the interim, the incumbent Deputy Chairman of LU Council, Mr Simon Ip, shall act as Chairman.
