CFS urges public not to consume chocolate product imported from Switzerland suspected to contain plastic foreign matter

     The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (January 22) urged the public not to consume a batch of chocolate product imported from Switzerland as the product might contain plastic foreign matter. The trade should also stop using or selling the affected batch of the product immediately if they possess it.

     Product details are as follows:

Brand: TOBLERONE
Place of origin: Switzerland
Net weight: 100 grams
Importer and distributor: Integrated Market Services Asia Limited
Best-before date: December 1, 2024
Batch number: OOY4233553

     A spokesman for the CFS said, "The CFS received a notification from the manufacturer's Hong Kong representative of the product concerned that the above-mentioned batch of the product is being recalled as it might contain plastic foreign matter. Upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately contacted the importer and distributor concerned for follow-up. According to the information it provided, the importer and distributor concerned has already stopped sale and removed from shelves the affected batch of the product, and voluntarily initiated a recall. Members of the public may call the importer and distributor's hotline at 2848 0808 during office hours for enquiries about the recall."

     The spokesman urged members of the public not to consume the affected batch of the product if they have bought any. The trade should also stop using or selling the product concerned immediately.

     The CFS will alert the trade to the incident, continue to follow up and take appropriate action. An investigation is ongoing.
