​Hong Kong fencing athlete Cheung Ka-long today (July 29, Paris time) won the gold medal in the Men's Foil Individual event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. This is the second gold medal won by the Hong Kong, China Delegation at these Olympic Games. The Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Cheung and his coach.
"Cheung Ka-long demonstrated his excellence, persevered, and gave full play to his skills in the competitions. After making history for the Hong Kong fencing team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, he has once again achieved a brilliant result with his great performance, winning a well-deserved gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games. His outstanding achievements are heartening and have become a source of pride for the people of Hong Kong," Mr Lee said.
Cheung has achieved outstanding results in recent years. He won the gold medal in the Men's Foil Individual event at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou. He also won the gold medal in the same event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
