Cash subsidy for individual licensees in estate agency sector under Anti-epidemic Fund

The Government has earmarked $135 million under the second round of the Anti-epidemic Fund to provide a cash subsidy to individual licensees in the estate agency sector with a view to reducing the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on estate agents.

The Government will provide a one-off cash subsidy to each eligible licensee of a salesperson's licence and an estate agent's licence (individual). The subsidy amount is equal to the 24-month licence fee of the respective licences. For a salesperson's licence, the amount is $2,510; for an estate agent's licence (individual), the amount is $3,930. It is estimated that the measure will benefit about 40 000 individual licensees.

"There is no need to submit an application for the cash subsidy. The Government will provide the cash subsidy to the eligible licensees by batches through the Estate Agents Authority (EAA). The first batch of subsidy is expected to be disbursed in late May 2020", a spokesperson for the Transport and Housing Bureau said today (May 11).
