The Lands Department announced today (February 23) that the tender for the sale of a site, Tsing Yi Town Lot No. 200 at the junction of Tsing Yi Road and Tsing Yi Hong Wan Road, Tsing Yi, New Territories, has been cancelled.
The Government announced on December 17, 2021, that it would dispose of Tsing Yi Town Lot No. 200 by public tender for logistics services purposes. The tender invitation was originally to close on March 11, 2022 (www.info.gov.hk/gia/general/202112/17/P2021121600386.htm). As the Government announced yesterday (February 22) that community isolation and treatment facilities will be constructed at five locations, including the Tsing Yi Town Lot No. 200 site, with the assistance of the Central Government (www.info.gov.hk/gia/general/202202/22/P2022022200824.htm), the above tender is cancelled.
A spokesperson for the Transport and Housing Bureau said, "The Government and the community stand together to fight against the pandemic. At the same time, the Government continues to promote the development of the logistics industry, which is a very important part of the Hong Kong economy and makes significant contributions to the Hong Kong community. With a view to promoting modern logistics development progressively, the Government will continue to identify more suitable sites for the development of multi-storey modern logistics facilities, so as to strengthen Hong Kong's role as a regional logistics hub. A logistics site in Kwai Chung will soon be put up for sale by way of public tender and details will be announced shortly."
